Wednesday Wonders 4

Our fourth thrilling instalment...
1. Streamline Moderne

I know I have banged on about this design movement before, and I have even promised to write something more extensive about it. But for now, let's just revisit the marvels again. An internet search for "streamline moderne" will provide endless hours of marvels. But for a good distillation, head to this piece on Atomic Ranch.
In fact, the entire Atomic Ranch website is a treasure trove that you could spend hours in.
2. The Paintings of Peter Harris

Yes, it's a painting. And yes, it might well remind you of "Severance", but that's because "Severance" taps into the same Edward Hopper/liminal space thing that Canadian artist Peter Harris had already been working on for some time.

I can marvel at these painting for hours. And you can too, at Peter Harris's homepage.
3. The Illustrations of Matt Cook

Sticking with art, but moving to a different viewpoint, Matt Cook is a watercolour reportage artist who works for newspapers, notably the Financial Times.
You can see more of his work HERE.
4. Uniball Jetream Pens
I'm a recent convert to rollerball pens, having realised that fountain pens aren't the only solution to everything. My reluctance to deal with rollerballs comes from their tendency to stay wet forever, especially on smoother paper. Enter Uniball's Jetstream range, which offers an incredibly smooth writing experience and ink that dries lightning fast. These things may well have been around for years, but I just discovered them and I think they're great.
The full Cult Pens selection is HERE.
5. Merlin Mann's Wisdom Project
This has been around for a while, but I was reminded of it this week. Merlin Mann started the 43 Folders blog back in the day and has been doing various interesting things online ever since. The Wisdom Project is essentially one long text file wherein he posts random life tips as they occur to him.
If you have a small household responsibility—no matter how lame or quotidian—just do it now and without being asked. If you think the trash may need to go out, do not "check" to see if the trash needs to go out. Just take out the fucking trash. And quit reminding everybody you took the trash out. This is not Vietnam, and you are not a forgotten hero.
The full file is available HERE.
And that's Wednesday. Enjoy.
