Wednesday Wonders 19

1. Slow Watches

Very simply, a set of watches that show 24 hours on their face and have just one hand, showing the hour. The watch tells you where you are in the day and, with practice, can be read with some precision. But the point is to slow you down, to stop you worrying about minutes and seconds and just chart your day in a more relaxed manner. I've had one for a good long while, but I'm about to buy the solar version.

2. Carl Pullein

For process nerds, Carl Pullein is great. He's enthusiastic, down-to-earth and, lately, has a pronounced bent towards the analogue.

3. Spine Chillers

This came up during the Mythos Meet-The -Write zoom yesterday (and a hat tip to Phil Gooch for beating me to the link by a few seconds). I remember this show from when I was a kid, and it was formative; kind of a Jackanory for spooky and weird, each episode featured a different actor reading a short story. Here's Freddie Jones doing H.G. Wells' "The Red Room". Others can be sought out online.

4. A house in Amsterdam

I want one. I want this one.

5. The Vivaldi Browser

For those who are looking to break away from US big-tech, the Vivaldi Browser is made in Europe and is also best-in-class. Pair it with the French Qwant search engine for the full European experience.
