Yesterday we headed out to the preview of the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (it's very good this year and the giant photograph by Wim Wenders is AMAZING). For the first time ever, I actually bought something, this:
Suzanne Moxhay is an artist working with photographs, which is to say that she has an incredibly intricate process, inspired by the matte painting technique movies used to use, which involves assembling bits of hundreds of found photographs from books, magazine etc and mounting them on a series of glass plates positioned one behind the other to give a sense of depth. From these images she creates seamless fictional rooms and landscapes and then re-photographs the composite and manipulates it digitally for the final result.
