Some brainstorming...
Thinking out loud.
This morning, you are being subjected to some random thoughts and questions about what needs to happen with the Cartoon Gravity site and the Pleasant Green site.
I'm trying to figure out if there is some way to amalgamate them, or if that would even be a good idea.
Cartoon Gravity is about general stuff and the Pleasant Green site is solely about Pleasant Green (and is intended, absent a Kickstarter campaign, to be 95% fiction). But that leaves nowhere for potential Aldrich Kemp stuff to go, or for stuff on shows and story worlds that may be upcoming, but which are neither Aldrich nor Pleasant Green.
I've rationalised the subscription rates on the Pleasant Green site, which has helped, I think, to clarify things. But that site isn't providing real value to subscribers at the moment (it will, once the Kickstarter is over).
I've never had any interest in creating a Patreon, because that always seems like getting money for nothing (to me). But I have some paid subscriptions across these sites because the intention is that it might provide some kind of regular income that could bridge the gap between freelance work, and allow me to create things that I otherwise wouldn't be able to afford to spend time on.
Development Hell is not yet regular enough, or useful enough, to be offering real value to subscribers, so I wonder if the solution is to make all posts of whatever stripe on the Cartoon Gravity site free for everyone, and to instead introduce a voluntary subscription that would be LIKE a Patreon, but at least offers something in return?
I have had a glimpse of a world in which I can make an actual living doing audio fiction and writing fiction sites like Pleasant Green and maintaining Cartoon Gravity. But it's only a glimpse and I'm trying to figure out what needs to happen to make it a reality.
If this prompts any thoughts/ideas/comments/whatever, please come over to the Cartoon Gravity Club and share them.
