Christ, it's grim out there isn't it? I stumbled across a couple of things yesterday that might at least help to distract from the world for a few minutes...

The New York Times occasionally delivers an incredible piece of multimedia journalism. The first I remember seeing was The Avalanche at Tunnel Creek, which was astonishing.

And yesterday I came across Six Days Afloat in the Everglades, which is a beautiful piece.

I'm hoping you are able to check these out without an NYT subscription.

Many of you will have already seen this incredible story, but for those who missed it, The elaborate con that tricked dozens into working for a fake design agency is well worth a read.

Lastly, Hadley Freeman's piece for Unherd "Why I stopped being a good girl" is cogent and well-argued. I went back and forth about posting this, because I know some people won't agree with a word of it. But, on balance, I think it's a solid piece of writing. I can't promise that everything you read on here will chime with your view of the world, but I think it's important to get both sides of the story, and this is one side articulated very well.

Have a good one.
