I start by noting that Nathan Chen did not bring his phone to the Olympics.

I’m wondering about analogue things again. On my desk I have a Midori Traveler’s notebook and a pocket Public Supply notebook in a leather Bellroy cover. I use both a lot, for journaling, notes, idea etc. What I haven’t had for a while is a thick hardback notebook, a Moleskine or a Leuchtturm, that I could write in AND draw in AND use as a scrapbook for photographs etc. I can’t decide if this is something I want or if I’m just procrastinating. I do like the idea of a notebook that feels more like an object, like a craft project, than just somewhere I scribble half-formed ideas…

Re-watching the excellent documentary The Booksellers at the weekend, I was reminded of the Library of Human Imagination that Jay Walker has built in New England. This is a place I would really love to visit. I did find a video, a few years old, of the inside of the place:

Still in books, there was a great New Yorker piece on The Radical Woman Behind Goodnight Moon

I also liked this piece, giving advice to aspiring artists and creatives. Some of it is a little obvious and cliched, but that doesn’t make it any less true:

The secret to having confidence as a creative professional with tips from artists and designers

That’s it for Wednesday. Have a good one.
